The name Odin is a Scandinavian name from Norse Mythology. It is believed to mean Frenzy or Fury named for the ancient God of wisdom, war, poetry, and death. There is still disagreement amongst scholars regarding the true meaning of the name Odin, but some believe Odin’s representations with one eye provide the key to his name: Odin’s one eye or better read; “One I.” Interestingly, “One” in Hebrew is echad, and “I” is ani. Echad ani—i.e., Odin or Adonai. From the Hebrew, Odin translates to “inspiration” or “excitement.” While Odin may have arrived in a frenzy it is our hope that our Odin becomes and remains an inspiration for many years to come, and that as he heals, he will also help others to heal or integrate ‘The One.’
