Autumn Whispers

If you’ve been around the ranch lately you know, the horses are beginning to put on their winter coats and are eating plenty of hay trying to pack on a few extra pounds of fat to insulate from cold overnight temperatures, while autumn winds are picking up and the leaves are falling. Odin’s winter coat is looking beautiful and as you can see here the pond is now almost in full view. It’s truly beautiful at the ranch, especially this time of year. The nature spirits seem most alive in this weather.

If you haven’t been to the ranch lately or have never visited, I highly recommend stopping by as the leaves are changing color.

Working with Odin these days has been a little sketchy. With the wind blustering and the noise of the leaves constantly moving, Odin is a bit more on edge than usual outside in his pasture.

I’m so glad that he now has access to a barn, albeit a little rickety. It not only shelters his from the elements, but it helps him to feel safer on these windy days. Yesterday, Susan and I spent some time with him indoors and it was lovely to see how at ease he was feeling, the three of us together in that small enclosed space.
