Agh, the Odin dance. It’s again, been a rough few weeks. God giveth and God taketh away. Odin had a new pasture mate and then we had to take her away. Our trial became a total failure.
We knew the chemistry wasn’t there to consider them soul mates, but we were so hopeful that as pasture mates, Odin would accept Journey. She had so much to teach him. Journey is gentle, kind, grounded, and a people person. She was a great example of how to accept human interaction and love. She is a great example of how to receive life as it is without becoming airborne due to the startle reflex. But Odin just couldn’t accept her and over time it went from a cold reception to a heated situation in which Journey was getting nibble marks on her for no reason, and then the final clincher was Odin driving her into a corner. Once a horse starts moving another’s feet and driving them, the match has to be called and Odin’s pasture mate was pulled from the field.
We felt really sad. We were sad for Journey that our sweet girl got bullied and bitten, sad for Odin that he was again alone and without any good example on how to be horse with a human, and sad that AGAIN, we had broken a trust, except this time, it seemed we were nearly back to square one. Odin really seemed angry with us. We’re back to having to make ourselves small again and back to simply explaining to him with the Trust Technique…you can be peaceful here.
The following video shows a recent sweet moment where we can finally again gaze into each other’s eyes.
